BUILDING APPROACH

The Building Approach is the space provided to give direction to the entrance. It is the pathway in which one follows, to come to their point of arrival. The approach comes in many ways, differing in direction, but my example shows a frontal approach; it is direct, and leads straight to the door.

BUILDING ENTRANCES

The Building Entrance is the space that we pass through to get "inside" the space of the building. Although somewhat self explanatory, a building entrance is not only a door. In my example, the building entrance is the space created from the columns and extended plane that comes before the door. It is the entrance because we have to enter that first before we meet the door.

CONFIGURATION OF THE PATH

The configuration of the path, is the implied line of travel that we see to enter/exit a space. In my example the configuration of the path goes in a circle; people can come and go following the line of the circle.

PATH-SPACE RELAS.

The Path-Space Relationship is just how does the line in which people travel, relate to the space it is within. In my example, the main path divides the space equally, creating the head table as the focal point.  There are other paths to be taken as people do need to go to either side to get to their seats, but they must follow/use the main path.

FORM OF THE CIRCULATION SPACE

The Form of the Circulation Space is really the shape of the path of mvement. In my example the form that provides the most circulation or the "place" of circulation is the stairs. The stairs connect the bottom level to the level above it.
