Form is a three-dimensional figure that has volume. Space is the bare open environment, which has volume as well. To distinguish them though, space provides the placement for a form, so a form takes up space. In my image, the forms are the light fixtures and space is the background environment.
Defining a space with a horizontal, using a depressed plane, is another way to add layers and interest to a specific area of a space. Depressed planes which are also referred to as "sunken" areas, are lower than the main floor level. In my image, the living room, is actually within a depressed plane, that is a sunken square shaped space. It gives the living room it's own environment as well as creating a very interesting, comfortable and intimate, public environment.
Defining a space with a single vertical plane, is pretty much adding a wall or form into a space that divides it up or breaks up the flow of the room, depending on how the circulation is meant to be, or distinguishing public and private areas. In my image, the addition of a tinted glass wall, separates the open area of the bathroom, to the private shower area. It also adds an aesthetically pleasing hint of color to the all white bathroom.
View, like the name states are the visual focal points that opening within spaces create. They are made to create visual interest on a wall, as well as draw the viewers to what is outside and/or bring the outside in. In my image, the entire room is made up of windows, which creates an indoor/outdoor space. The views are on three walls making the space itself a focal point.
Openings in space defining elements are pretty much the windows, (internal/external openings that are seen on the exterior as well as the interior of a building; internal openings which are windows that are made in walls that separate two spaces.) My image shows the circular opening within the triangular interior/exterior plane of the room.
